I agree wholeheartedly with you! Although I study English Literature at A-level, I do not believe that Shakespeare is as great as everyone makes out. By studying literary texts in depth we are just picking out things which weren't there in the first place.
Just think, in a few hundred years' time people will be thinking of Thom Yorke as a great poet and Ben Elton a genius playwright.
