Dear Mega-ziners,

Please let River Phoenix's memory rest in peace! He was a beautiful person with strong views. He was also very caring and thoughtful.

Everyone makes mistakes in life - sadly River made a bad one and paid for it with his life. So, let that be a lesson to us all - DON'T MESS WITH DRUGS.

And yes, I have changed my name by deed poll because River meant so much to me.

Sky Phoenix, Manchester

Sky's middle names are River and Jude

LIVE REVIEW JAMES at the G-MEX, MANCHESTER

James kicked off with "Laid" and then played their classics which included "Come Home" and "Sound".

They finally went off, but the crowd wanted more. So, after about 10 minutes of chanting and singing, the guys re-emerged wearing gorgeous frocks and played three more songs - the last of which was "Sit Down".

Lynn and Jill, Manchester, The North

Yeah, "Sit Down" - anthem or what!

Dear Mega-zine,

I'd like to respond to MJ's Most Triumphant Fan who wrote a while ago.

I offer my support because I believe Michael Jackson is innocent. He would never hurt children because it hurts HIM to see a child suffer.

I wish people would stop spreading rumours about him. If they've got nothing better to do, they must be sad.

MJ's left white sock

MJ should put on his, er, brave face!

Dear Mega-zine,

The following is in response to Angel of Death who wrote in on December 14.

Sorry to disappoint you old chap, but as I once pointed out in the now defunct Beat Box (R.I.P), it's the songwriting that's the important part of music - not what it's played on.

M-People write well-crafted pop songs. Agreed that it's light and throwaway, but it's still talent.

Jon Homer's lover, Madchester

So there, Angel of Death!
