LIVE REVIEW - LUCIANO PAVAROTTI IN CENTRAL PARK, NEW YORK

I always read Mega-zine but have never seen a classical review. So here goes!

On a recent trip to New York, I attended an open-air concert in Central Park. The artiste was Luciano Pavarotti and what a wonderful performance it was.

He sung Lucia di Lammermoor, O Sole Mio and songs from La Traviata and the audience went wild.

The atmosphere was electric and there was nothing but respect for Luciano.

He ended the great night as always with Nessun Dorma from Turandot by Puccini which left some of the audience in tears. I had the odd tear in my eyes.

The video is out now. You could do a lot worse. Try it.

ALBUM REVIEW - BLIND MELON

Headed by Axl's mate and fellow redneck Shannon Hoon, who also sings on GNR greats like Don't Cry and November Rain, this LA fivesome deliver a superb debut album.

They have been compared to Pearl Jam and Janes Addiction but this band have their own unique sound. On first play the album doesn't sound special but give it a couple more and you'll find you've a quality album on your hands.

Tracks which stand out are Soak the Sin I Wonder, Time and No Rain. But there are no really bad songs.

The Melons played some excellent live shows on their "Crammed in a Van" tour and Shannon Hoon is a natural front man.

Buy this album straight away. As Kerrang said: "It seems Axl's new friends really are quite special."
