ALBUM REVIEW - MODERN LIFE IS RUBBISH by BLUR

Imagine the Kinks and the Jam merged to become a modern supergroup. This is what they would sound like.

Blur have shown themselves to be more than the average Indie boys they were once thought of.

And in being so, they have delivered one of the best albums of the year so far.

Highlights are the singles For Tomorrow and Chemical World, the former in particular being an example of how Indie music should sound.

Other high points like Sunday Sunday and Miss America make this an album to kill for.

Burn your Dire Straits records and buy this.

ALBUM REVIEW - GREETINGS FROM UNCLE SAM / VARIOUS ARTISTS

This album may contain Americans only and we might be in the UK, but these Americans know how to produce brilliant songs.

The first side starts with the excellent Sugar and Changes. Sugar's main man, of course, is Bob Mould - one of those Grunge Godfathers.

(NOWT MOULDY 'BOUT THIS REVIEW)

Once you've recovered from Sugar, it's onto one of the best groups out of the lot, Dinouaur Jr with their groovy hit Start Choppin'. It has drooling lyrics and a very catching tune - it's astonishing!

Next it's those LA girls in L7 with the wonderful Pretend We're Dead - one of my fave songs of all-time. So c'mon, c'mon, c'mon!

After L7 it's Mudhoney - another great group. They come from Seattle and they'll certainly Suck You Dry, so Let Yourself Go!

Then a slower number by Soul Asylum, Black Gold. Lastly on side one is Buffalo Tom and Taillights Fade. This group is definitely full of bluesmen.

Side two starts with Belly and their hit Feed The Tree.

(...GOR - SHE DOES GO ON, EH?!)

Now the best song on the album (well, I think so) - Confetti from the most triumphant Lemonheads. And that gorgeous Evan Dando - fwor!

After all that excitement comes the not-so-well-known Juliana Hatfield and her little tune called Everybody Loves Me But You.

(NOW YOU'RE JUST GETTING SILLY, QUEENIE)

Then the album gets louder with the incredible Alice In Chains and their poisonous lyrics to Them Bones.

Carrying on with the ARGHH! STOP!!!

Queen Jane, Cheshire

THAT'S IT! I GIVE UP! I CAN'T BEAR IT - SOMEONE'S GOT TO TELL YOU TO SHUT UP, AND IT MIGHT AS WELL BE ME! GOR, YOU DON'T HALF WITTER ON. ANYWAY, LOVED YOUR REVIEW - SEND US SOME MORE (NOT OF THE SAME REVIEW, MIND!) CRIKEY!
